Steve Chetcuti Makes History As First Ever Maltese To Row Across Atlantic

Maltese rower Steve Chetcuti has made history after completing a solo, unsupported crossing of the Atlantic, arriving in Antigua after 54 days, seven hours and 56 minutes at sea.
Rowing 3,000 miles from La Gomera, Spain, as part of the World’s Toughest Row, Chetcuti became the first Maltese man to achieve the feat. He crossed the finish line in the early hours of Saturday morning, exhausted but triumphant.
The challenge took a severe physical and mental toll, with Chetcuti losing 19kg and battling extreme fatigue and isolation. He later revealed that Day 51 pushed him to a mental breaking point before support from family helped him continue.
Chetcuti finished eighth in the solo category and dedicated the row to his late brother Michael, while also raising awareness and funds for the charity Margerita.
