Mazzotta Stresses Long-Term Vision as Malta U21 Prepare for Greece Test

With the Malta Under‑21 National Team edging closer to its next UEFA European U21 Championship Qualifier against Greece, Head Coach Davide Mazzotta has underlined the importance of focusing on long‑term player development rather than short‑term results. Malta resumes its qualifying campaign on Friday, 27th March 2026, with an away fixture at the Municipal Stadium of Livadia, kicking off at 17:00.
The squad will then travel to Georgia for a second away match on Tuesday, 31st March, at the Ramaz Shengelia Stadium in Kutaisi. Mazzotta described the team’s preparation as positive, noting that the players have shown strong energy and commitment after an initial focus on recovery and mental readiness.
He emphasised that unity remains central to the project, stating that growth only happens when players defend one another and work collectively. While acknowledging the complexity of the new technical‑tactical pathway, Mazzotta expressed confidence that the benefits will become evident as players mature and push toward senior national team opportunities.
