MALTESE RUNNER ZACH VELLA COVERS 356KM AND REACHES FRANCE IN FIRST 7 DAYS OF LONDON-TO-MALTA CHALLENGE

Maltese endurance runner Zach Vella has completed the first week of his 2,700-kilometre run from London to Malta, covering a total of 356 kilometres as he concluded the UK part of the journey and reached France on Day 3.
Vella, who is in good spirits, is now running south towards Switzerland, marking a significant early milestone in the six-week ultra-endurance challenge.
With 2,343 kilometres still remaining, the journey continues to test both physical and mental limits, as Vella maintains an average of more than 50 kilometres per day across varied terrain.
Vella is being supported by a small team assisting with logistics, tracking, and daily coordination, ensuring he is able to begin each leg of the run safely and efficiently. Friends have also joined him along parts of the route, offering encouragement and solidarity.
The challenge, titled Miles from Home, aims to raise €120,000 for YMCA Malta to support and expand its services for individuals experiencing homelessness and vulnerability, including the Drop-In Centre, Ċentru Albert Degiorgio.
Vella is expected to continue through France before crossing into Switzerland and Italy on his way back home to Malta.
