Għaxaq Wolves crowned MAFA First Division champions

Għaxaq Wolves were crowned MAFA First Division champions on the final day of the season despite suffering a 1-0 defeat against San Ġiljan Saints at the Marsaxlokk ground.

The Saints needed a victory at all costs to secure their place in the top division, and made their intentions known from the first minute. The only goal of the game arrived in the 27th minute, when Niall Dorman fired a powerful shot past goalkeeper Lionel Martin to put the Saints ahead.

Despite sustained pressure from Għaxaq during the second half, the Saints’ defence stood firm and eventually secured three valuable points that guaranteed their survival.

This was the fourth consecutive league title for Għaxaq Wolves, who in recent years climbed from the Third Division to the top tier while successfully defending their championship crown.

At the end of the match, MAFA General Secretary David Abdilla presented the trophy to Għaxaq Wolves captain Josef Felice.
