56 Sports Organisations Receive AiMS Registration Certificates

The Authority for Integrity in Maltese Sport (AiMS) has formally presented registration certificates to 56 Sports Organisations that have successfully completed the requirements set out in the law governing the registration of sporting persons in Malta.
In line with Chapter 626 of the Laws of Malta, all Sports Organisations are required to be registered in the Register for Sporting Persons, which is administered by AiMS. Following the completion of this process, a symbolic ceremony was held at the Ministry for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation, where representatives of the organisations received their certificates, confirming full compliance with the law.
Addressing those present, Minister for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation Clifton Grima underlined that registration is essential as it grants organisations legal personality. He explained that even when registration is sought through the Malta Business Registry, authorisation from AiMS remains mandatory. He added that registered organisations are now eligible to apply for government funding, including SportMalta schemes supporting training, competitions and sport development.
AiMS Chairman Judge Antonio Mizzi highlighted that registration benefits not only federations and associations, but also their affiliated clubs, academies, athletes, coaches and families, describing the certificate as a mark of professionalism and sound governance.
AiMS Chief Executive Kevin Azzopardi praised the efforts of volunteers and referred to the REGitALL scheme, which provided hands-on assistance throughout the registration process. He urged organisations to maintain high governance standards and to support their member clubs in becoming compliant by year’s end.
