Malta Hosts British Television Production “The Assassin: Season 2”

The British television series The Assassin Season 2 is currently being filmed in Malta, with principal photography taking place between 16 February and 5 June 2026.
The production features six hour-long episodes and is directed by Terry McDonough.
Filming is being carried out across a number of locations, including Valletta, Floriana, Rabat, Attard, Mellieħa, Marsascala and Siġġiewi, highlighting Malta’s versatility as a destination for international productions.
The project is supported by the Malta Film Commission through its 40 per cent cash rebate incentive.
With a Malta-based budget of €17.1 million, the production is employing a crew of 141 people, including 120 Maltese professionals. This is contributing to ongoing employment opportunities while also supporting the continued growth of the local film industry.
Minister for Culture, Lands and Local Government Owen Bonnici said the rebate scheme remains essential in attracting international productions and strengthening Malta’s competitiveness.
Malta Film Commissioner Johann Grech added that productions of this scale help develop local talent, increase international exposure and support the long-term sustainability of the industry.
