Malta Covered In Fine Desert Dust Blowing From North Africa
Local

Malta is currently covered with a massive fine desert dust cloud which has blown from North Africa.

Reaching Sicily as well as other southern European and North African spots, the dust cloud has even prompted a poor air quality report by the Environment and Resources Authority (ERA)’s stations.

The Attard and Msida stations are reporting poor air quality, with PM10 referring to coarse particulate matter that has a diameter of 10 micrometers of smaller that can be inhaled.

This can cause respiratory issues as well as cardiovascular impact, and it is being paired with intense temperatures warnings as they reach over 40 degrees Celsius.
