AFM Safely Dispose Of Multiple War-Time Projectiles Found Locally

The Armed Forces of Malta’s EOD Team responded to a call in a Rabat residence following a suspected item of wartime origins.
‘The item was identified as a World War II British 3.7‑inch projectile. Officers from the Malta Police Force, Rabat Police Station, provided assistance’, the AFM explained.
‘Following inspection, the item was safely transported to AFM premises in Pembroke, where it was disposed this morning in a controlled and managed environment.’
Another separate report saw a report received through the 112 Emergency Services line regarding two items found in the limits of Birżebbuġa.
‘An EOD team conducted an on‑site assessment and confirmed that one item was a 3.7‑inch British projectile and the second a 3‑inch mortar round.’
‘The mortar round was confirmed to contain no explosive material. The projectile was transferred to the AFM Military area in Pembroke, where it was safely disposed of in accordance with standard procedures.’
