The Parliamentary Secretary for Youth, Research and Innovation, Keith Azzopardi Tanti, together with Aġenzija Żgħażagħ, met with beneficiaries of the BOOST scheme who are actively involved in the feast sector across Malta and Gozo.

The meeting marked the launch of a new process aimed at supporting voluntary organisations in developing a Safe Operations Policy. This initiative is designed to ensure that the safety and wellbeing of young volunteers are consistently prioritised, while also helping organisations strengthen their internal structures through better planning and organisation.

In his address, the Parliamentary Secretary highlighted the importance of feast organisations as spaces where young people can build responsibility and acquire valuable skills. He stated that such initiatives ensure voluntary work within Maltese feasts remains a meaningful, professional and safe experience for future generations.

Aġenzija Żgħażagħ Chief Executive Miriam Teuma underlined the value of these initiatives as important learning environments. Youth Worker Justine Azzopardi added that the workshops provide a structured space where organisations can reflect, assess risks and develop procedures tailored to their needs. She stressed that young people should play an active and safe role in shaping local traditions.

Participants also received information from Eurodesk about funding opportunities that can help their organisations grow and contribute positively to their communities.
